EOI Foster Carer Application

Calling all animal lovers! Have you ever considered having a rabbit in your home but you're not sure where to start the journey? Look no further because fostering is a fantastic option because you're also helping a rabbit in need!

Here at The Binky Collective, we are always on the lookout for more fantastic foster homes as there is always a surplus of rabbits needing our assistance. 

Things we are looking for in a foster home:

A quiet indoor space - this can be a spare room, a penned off space ideally with minimum of L 3m x W 2m or free roam setup that has been bunny-proofed.

Transport flexibility - Some fosters will require transport to appointments for required vaccinations, desexing or other medical procedures (Appointments and treatments are covered by The Binky Collective).

Things you will need:

There is a variety of items that are needed for setting up for your foster. We are able to assist with these items but donations through purchasing the items for your rabbit are always welcome!

• Pet enclosure panels (if not in a free roam arrangement)
• Soft non-slip surface (a rug/doona to assist with traction in their space)
• Litter Tray
• Ceramic water bowl
• Rabbit safe enrichment items (stacking cups, water hyacinth or hay balls, tunnels etc)
• Food and litter (paper based kitty litter) to be covered by the foster carer 

Successful applicants will be provided with the foster care cheat sheet and be added to The Binky Collective's Foster messenger chat for support, advice etc.

**No outdoor time is permitted with TBC fosters due to the risk of Calicivirus and Myxomatosis**

Providing for your foster's diet: 

A rabbit’s diet should consist of 80% hay, 10% greens, 5% quality pellets and <5% fruits and treats.

Hay varieties that we recommend:

• Oaten
• Meadow
• Botanical
• Timothy

Pellet brands that we recommend:

• Oxbow
• Selective Naturals
• Vetafarm
• Burgess
